Our Outstanding Owl (Student of the Week)
We will begin our Student of the Week celebrations in April. Here is a reminder of what happens on each day…
Each day will have something special that is honoring the student. They also get to be the teacher’s helper for the week. They will find out on Friday who the next student of the week will be.
Monday- The student gets to bring in pictures of themselves, pictures they’ve drawn, and pictures of family to decorate the bulletin board (these will be returned to you).
Tuesday- The student gets to bring in their favorite book to share. If it is a picture book they get to read the whole thing, if it is a chapter book they get to read for 10 minutes.
Wednesday- Parents will write a letter to the class telling us how special your child is to you. Send the letter in a sealed envelope to school with your child, and I will read the letter to the class at class meeting. The content of the letter is up to you, but you may want to choose from the following ideas: Describe special or funny stories about your child for the class to hear, write a silly or serious poem about your child, tell us some neat things we may not know about your child, send silly or special pictures with a letter describing the pictures, or write a short story with your child as the main character. You may also send a video for the class to watch if you choose.
Thursday- If possible, join your child in the cafeteria for a special lunch on this day. You may also choose to invite a sibling or a favorite relative to be your child’s lunch buddy. You can have the buddy be a surprise or let your child know ahead of time. If you are unable to make it during our lunch period (11:30-12:00), please let me know, and we will plan a special lunch for your child.
Friday- The student will be recognized with a certificate and a pencil and will get to announce the next student of the week.
