Students will read one historical fiction book this month, the book report element will be a book talk where the children create a 2-3 minute presentation “selling” their book to the class. The historical fiction book should be approved by the 3rd and the presentation will be due Thursday, November 29th. Please look for the papers in your child’s blue folder this week! | Ms. Snow's Teacher ShowerWe want to celebrate all of the hard work Ms. Snow has done this semester by throwing her a 'surprise' teacher shower on November 29th. Please find, buy, or recycle items that will benefit her as a future teacher. Some ideas are crayons, a stapler, chapter or picture books, pens, sticky tack, mugs, coffee, etc. Thank you for helping me celebrate a future educator! |
Writing
So far in writing we have explored our editor’s checklist which includes: including our name and date, using capital letters where appropriate, using correct punctuation, spelling word wall words correctly, and writing a complete thought.
This quarter we will be focusing on staying on topic, paragraph formation, and writing in cursive. We will begin cursive by turning our page the correct way, making lines, using the lined paper, and begin lowercase letters.

A big thank you to Mrs. Phillips, Ms. Tiel, Mrs. Bonecutter, and Ms. Redfearn for helping with the Halloween party last month. | This month in reading we are working on using schema (background knowledge), and making inferences. The children did a great job in October with making predictions! I saw their abilities grow with their detective case files, use of vocabulary, and our own class mystery with a math twist, Mystery Polygons and QR Codes. | Coming Soon… December 6th-Winter Concert December 19- January 2nd- Winter Break December is Poetry Month (no book report due) |
